Planetary Geomatics
"Geomatics is a field of actitivies which, using a systemic approach, integrates all the means used to acquire and manage spatial data required as part of scientific, administrative, legal and technical operations involved in the process of the production and management of spatial information." -- quote from the Canadian Institute of Geomatics.
Planetary Geomatics concerns the spatial information, usually scientific, of terrestrial worlds such as the Earth, the Moon, Mars, and other bodies in the solar system with a solid surface such as asteroids and comets.
IPX is approaching this billion-dollar Earth geomatics industry from the point of view of the researcher using geospatial data for scientific analysis, and the point of view of the project manager gathering geospatial data from the field.
Our R&D program is focused on two products:
- Planetary Data Analysis, Data Fusion and Data SuperComputing Software
- Planetary Data Logging Instruments
The datalogging instruments we are developing would be customized for a particular applications. Earth applications in forestry management, oil & mineral exploration, urban planning, and a host of others are anticipated.
Our supercomputing software for data analysis and data fusion is anticipated to bring a significant leap over the capabilities of currently-available geospatial tools, both for the Earth and Space markets. Researchers in all areas should contact IPX to discuss the solutions we can provide.
